Blast furnaces P1-P6 at Jones & Laughlin’s Pittsburgh Northside Works in the 1950ies.
The furnaces were closed down in 1979 and demolished in 1983.
Jones & Laughlin became LTV Steel in 1984 which became ISG in 2002 which became Mittal Steel in 2005 to become part of ArcelorMittal in 2006.
Just an FYI- the last photo on the page- that you’ve tagged as the J&L North Side works- it is actually their Eliza Mill on second avenue. Someone may have incorrectly assumed it was the “north side” because the opposite side of the Monogahela River is known as the”South Side”. However, the North Side in Pugh is actually on the other side of the Allegheny River.
The site is great, though- fabulous high res images. Thanks for pulling these together.
